Food blogs triumph at Blog Awards Ireland – Life |

On Saturday evening at the Osprey Hotel in Naas, the winners of the Blog Awards Ireland 2012 in 30 categories were unveiled, with food blog Wise Words taking home the award for best blog.

“I am surprised and delighted to have won so many awards tonight, including Best Overall Blog,” said Móna Wise, author of Wise Words, which also won first prize in the Best Food / Drink category. “I’ve been blogging since 2007 and blogged even when I thought no one was listening. I encourage anyone who thinks they have a story to tell to start blogging.

Over 200 guests attended the ceremony, which recognized another food blog, One Man’s Meat by Conor Bofin, as Best Newcomer; Fluff & Fripperies in the Best Fashion / Beauty category; and mom Molly Moo’s blog as Best Staff.

“We were delighted with the interest generated by the Blog Awards 2012,” said Amanda Webb, co-organizer of the event. “The strength and diversity of the 2,000 entries we received this year underscores the richness of quality blogging in Ireland in a range of different categories, from politics and Irish language, crafts and environmental issues. / green.
