Attempted armed robbery at the Georgina payday loan store last night

York Regional Police Heist Unit investigators are looking for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a store in the town of Georgina.

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 8:00 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a payday loan store in the area of ​​Riverglen Drive and The Queensway South for a report of robbery.

Officers learned that a male suspect was waiting for the employee to exit the store at closing time. The suspect was armed with a gun and threatened the victim while forcing him inside and demanding money. The suspect attempted to obtain a sum of money, but was unsuccessful. The suspect fled before police arrived.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male wearing black clothing and a black mask.
